MOUNT VERNON — A Skagit County man may be forced to euthanize the two dozen of exotic animals he keeps if he can’t find new homes for them after the county filed a lawsuit.
KOMO-TV reported that Dave Colburn of Anacortes is under fire for the wolves, cougars, foxes and other animals he keeps at Predators of the Heart, a 10-acre property where he raises exotic animals. He uses the animals to educate people about exotic wildlife.
A law enacted last year added wolves, cougars, venomous snakes and foxes to the county’s list of prohibited animals. The county filed suit against Colburn, saying he’s violating the ordinance.
Colburn said he is trying to find zoos to take the prohibited critters, but if he can’t he will have to euthanize them.
