What: Camperdown elm
A small deciduous tree with a terrific weeping silhouette. This tree forms a dome-like shape on top and its contorted branches cascade downward, creating its unique weeping effect. Flowers form in early spring, but it is the shape and leaves that draw people to this tree. Native to Great Britain, it was discovered at Camperdown House near Dundee Scotland circa 1850. This small tree is a good choice where overhead wires are a concern.
SUN OR SHADE: Camperdown elm grows best in full sun but tolerates part shade.
Size: Typically grows to 15 to 20 feet tall and 20 to 30 feet wide.
See it: At the Evergreen Arboretum &Gardens Urban Tree Walk on the west side of the parking lot; 145 Alverson Blvd., Everett.
