McClain Insurance in Everett to exchange old flags for new ones

For the seventh year, independent insurance agency McClain Insurance Services will give local residents the opportunity to retire worn American flags in exchange for new ones just in time for Flag Day, which is observed on June 14. The flag exchange is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 8 through 12 at 10410 19th Ave. SE in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Everett, just south of Costco.

Rotarians, students raises money to send students to college

On May 9, about 150 Everett students in the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program and 32 Rotarians participated in the first AVID HighFive Walkathon. The event raised more than $7,500, and Rotary District 5050 contributed a grant worth an additional $5,000. The money will be used to fund students’ exploratory visits to colleges in the Pacific Northwest.

EvCC students can apply for aerospace loan program

Everett Community College has been added to the list of training facilities that can access the Aerospace Student Loan Program that provides low-interest student loans to qualifying students. In addition to EvCC, programs are offered at Washington Aerospace Training and Research Center at Paine Field, Spokane Aerospace Technology Center and Renton Technical College.

State: retail sales grew in fourth quarter 2014

Washington state’s taxable retail sales grew in the fourth quarter of 2014, rising 7.1 percent over the prior year, according to a quarterly report prepared by the state Department of Revenue. In Snohomish County, taxable retail sales were $3.2 billion and retail trade, a portion of all taxable retail sales, was $1.8 billion.f all taxable retail sales, was $1.8 billion.
