SEDRO-WOOLLEY — Granite Falls clinched a berth in the Class 2A state softball tournament Friday with a win over Cascade Conference rival Archbishop Murphy at the District 1 Softball Tournament at Janicki Fields.
The loss ended the Wildcats’ season.
Senior Lauren Harding led Granite Falls, pitching a complete game and going 3-for-5 at the plate with two doubles and two RBI. Her batterymate, junior catcher Dannica West, was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Senior outfielder Hailey Teter and sophomore third baseman Taylor Arndt each doubled for Granite Falls.
Alyson Matriotti went 2-for-3 with a solo homer for Archbishop Murphy, Maureen Kelly was 3-for-4 with a triple and a double, and Liz Judge was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Granite Falls advanced to face Sehome on Friday night in a game to determine the third and fourth seeds into the state tournament.
