Thanks to those who gave during Lions Clubs White Cane Days.
Our annual May fundraiser marked the beginning of Lions Sight and Hearing Month. White Cane Days helps thousands of kids in Washington and Northern Idaho through the Northwest Lions Foundation for Sight and Hearing. Last year, almost 30,000 children were provided sight and hearing screening services from a Lions portable van at no charge. In addition, local clubs provided free screening at various events including Project Homeless Connect. Your generosity makes this all happen.
In addition to free vision and hearing screening, the Lions Foundation created the Lions Eye Bank in 1969 that has grown to become the world’s largest in the world. Over the years it has has provided thousands of corneas for sight-restoring transplants. It has also provided funding for those in need, screened for other conditions such as diabetes, and has helped fund related sight and hearing research.
Donations during White Cane Days are still being accepted by mail at Lions P.O. Box 1243 Everett, WA 98206. Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club. For more information about Lions Clubs contact Art Ruben at 425-387-9256.
