EVERETT — A man allegedly carrying a crowbar and a knife broke into the county courthouse Sunday morning.
A worker confronted the man, then called 911 at about 9 a.m., according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
Officers from four law enforcement agencies rushed to the courthouse and began searching for the man. At the same time, the few employees at the courthouse and other connected county buildings were evacuated.
It was a “very dynamic situation,” the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said in a post on Twitter.
At 11:15 a.m., officers arrested a 25-year-old Everett man matching the suspect’s description in the 1500 block of 38th Street, nearly a mile south of the courthouse.
A knife was found nearby, according to the sheriff’s office.
The agency’s property crimes unit is investigating the incident with help from Everett police detectives.
Further details were not immediately available.
