Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, as well as newly acquired tight end Jimmy Graham, won’t be on the field with the rest of their teammates Tuesday for the team’s first session of organized team activities. Before you worry that Wilson is skipping workouts as a negotiation ploy, know that he is absent because he is being a good teammate to Graham. Both are away attending the funeral of Tamara Meyerson, who was Graham’s personal manager and surrogate mother. Wilson and Mo Kelly, the Seahawks’ vice president of player engagement, took a redeye to Miami to be with Graham for Tuesday’s funeral. According to Meyerson’s obituary, “Tammy loved and mentored Jimmy Graham as a son.” And he and her three children “were all always the number one priority in her life.”
Defensive end Cliff Avril will also be absent, unfortunately also because of the death of a loved one. He posted on Instagram over the weekend that his father passed away.
Defensive end Michael Bennett, who has expressed a desire for a bigger contract this offseason, is also reportedly going to skip Tuesday’s workout, which is voluntary.
