People have the chance to talk about oil- and coal-train safety with Mukilteo Mayor Jennifer Gregerson and state Rep. Strom Peterson, D-Edmonds, at a meeting scheduled Wednesday evening.
The meeting is scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Mukilteo City Hall, 11930 Cyrus Way, Mukilteo.
Up to nine trains pass through Snohomish County each week carrying 1 million or more gallons of Bakken crude oil, according to figures BNSF Railway provided to the state on May 1. The explosion of similar oil trains following derailments elsewhere in the United States and in Canada has heightened interest in the issue.
