The WHL announced the names of the league’s players who have been invited to the NHL Scouting Combine, and Everett defenseman Noah Juulsen is on the list.
Juulsen, a defenseman from Abbotsford, B.C., was one of 24 WHLers invited to the combine. He’s coming off a 17-year-old season in which he had nine goals and 43 assists in 68 games for the Tips, and the 6-foot-1, 180-pounder saw his stock for the 2015 NHL draft rise steadily throughout the season. He was ranked 22nd among North American skaters in the NHL Central Scouting Service’s final rankings, and there’s now talk that he may sneak into the back end of the first round.
The combine begins Monday and runs through next Saturday in Buffalo, NY. The draft is June 26-27 in Sunrise, Fla.
I should also mention that I’m off to cover the high school boys soccer state semifinals today, so my ability to keep up with any Auston Matthews news that may break may be compromised.
