BUCKLEY — Police say an officer in Buckley suffered a broken leg in a struggle with a sex offender.
KOMO-TV reported that it happened about 6:30 a.m. Friday when the officer went to serve a warrant at a residence near the intersection of Mountain View Avenue and South Division Street.
Buckley Police Chief Jim Arsanto told the station the suspect attacked the officer, and police are now looking for the suspect, who managed to escape.
KIRO-TV identified the man as Derrick Ferguson, who was wanted on a warrant in King County for failing to register as a sex offender and also on a Department of Corrections escape warrant.
The officer was taken to the hospital for treatment.
