EVERETT — A fire that started on the back deck of a home Saturday afternoon caused an estimated $200,000 in damage.
The fire apparently started in a meat smoker appliance and then spread into the two-story home through its windows, said Rick Robinson, fire marshal for the Everett Fire Department.
The fire was reported about 2:20 p.m. at 10500 19th Place W., he said. Fire units from throughout south Everett as well as Fire District 1 responded. It took about 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze, he said.
Six people were displaced by the fire. Volunteers with the American Red Cross of Snohomish County helped them find alternative shelter, Robinson said.
