KENT— A 31-year-old Kent man who tried to stop a thief from stealing his car has died of injuries he sustained when he was thrown from the moving car.
KOMO-TV reported that police say the victim had left his car running Thursday evening when he noticed a man climb into the vehicle and begin to drive away. The victim ran to his car and tried to climb in the open passenger window to stop the thief.
Police say the thief continued to drive off, swerving back and forth and striking the curb in an attempt to knock his unwanted passenger loose.
The victim was eventually tossed from the car a block later and serious injured. Police say he was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he died.
Renton police have detained a person of interest in the theft.
