SALEM, Ore. — The Salem Police Department says a 16-year-old skateboarder is in critical condition after he went through a red light and collided with an SUV in an intersection.
Police say Joseph Viellette was taken to a Salem hospital with life-threatening injuries Saturday night. He was later transferred to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland where he was in critical condition Sunday afternoon.
Viellette was skateboarding 10 p.m. Saturday was heading northbound when he went through a red light. One car heading westbound missed the teen, but an SUV hit him in the intersection.
Police say there were no citations or arrests.
