There are many colorful sights to behold at the Whidbey Island Garden Tour on June 20.
The five gardens in the self-guided tour on South Whidbey include a romantic garden, a woodland garden, a shady garden, a dream garden and enchanted garden rooms.
Stop to smell the roses — and capture them on your camera or smart phone.
The garden tour is sponsoring a photo contest. The winner will receive two tickets to the 2016 tour and get bragging rights.
The annual tour raises money for local groups that work to improve Whidbey Island’s common habitat. Over the past 19 years, it has raised more than $300,000 for these groups.
Things to see on this year’s tour include art, sculpture, water features, water views, bird feeders and chicken coops.
The tour is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 20. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 on tour day for adults; $10 in advance or $15 tour day for ages 2 to 12. Tickets include a map and directions.
For advance tickets, call 360-321-4191 or go to wigt.org.
If not sold out, tickets are available on tour day at Bayview Farm and Garden, 2780 Marshview Ave., Langley. Before crossing the pond, check availability by calling 360-321-4191 or going to wigt.org.
Photo entries must be of the 2015 gardens and taken during the tour or pretour. Email entries to wigt@whidbey.net by June 30.
