Edmonds Mayor Dave Earling leads south Snohomish County candidates in fundraising. Earling, who will run unopposed for re-election in the Nov. 3 general election, has reported raising $25,391 and spending $4,282. Most of the contributions come from companies or individuals in real estate or related businesses.
Leading Edmonds City Council candidates in fundraising is Dave Teitzel, a candidate for the position that Councilwoman Joan Bloom is giving up. Teitzel, a retired Qwest Communications public policy director who was an applicant to replace former Councilman Strom Peterson early this year, reports raising $5,752 and spending $2,258. Opponent Alicia Crank, client services coordinator for SBI Management Services in Seattle reports no fundraising or spending.
Incumbent Councilman Michael Nelson, running for the last two years of the term he holds by appointment, has reported raising $4,750 and spending $372. Opponent Alvin Rutledge has reported no fundraising or spending.
Neil Tibbott, who is challenging Councilwoman Lora Petso, reports raising $2,775 with no spending. Petso has reported no fundraising or spending.
Incumbent Councilwoman Diane Buckshnis, running unopposed, has reported raising $100 with no spending. Appointed incumbent Thomas Mesaros, running for a full four-year term plus the last month of the term that former Councilman Frank Yamamoto won in 2009, has yet to register with the state Public Disclosure Commission.
In Lynnwood, incumbent councilman Loren Simmonds has reported raising $6,745 and spending $2,881. His top contributors are Days Inn and the Lynnwood Police Guild. Challenger Maria Ambalada reports no fundraising or spending. Shirley Sutton, who will face Simmonds and Ambalada in the Aug. 4 primary election, has yet to register with the Public Disclosure Commission.
Lynnwood City Council challenger Shannon Sessions reports raising $3,670 to none for incumbent Van Aubuchon. With only two candidates, the position will appear on the November ballot with no primary.
An incumbent who will be on the primary ballot, Benjamin Goodwin reports no fundraising or spending. Challenger Chris Frizzell has yet to register with the PDC. A third candidate on the primary ballot, Douglas Jones, has suspended his campaign.
Council incumbent Sid Roberts and challenger George had Hurst both report no fundraising or spending.
In Mountlake Terrace, City Council incumbent Bryan Wahl reports no fundraising or spending. No other Terrace candidate has registered with the PDC.
Edmonds School Board candidate Carin Chase reports raising $260, with no spending. Opponent William Willcock reports no fundraising or spending in the November election to replace incumbent Kerry DeMun. No other School Board candidate has reported any fundraising or spending.
Incumbent Democratic County Councilwoman Stephanie Wright, running unopposed in both August and November, reports no fundraising or spending.
No candidates for local fire or utility districts have reported any fundraising or spending.
