The Silvertips released their regular season schedule for the 2015-16 season Wednesday. Here’s some of the highlights:
– The Tips make the long journey to Prince George for the start of the season, opening with road games against the Cougars on Sept. 25 and 27. That’s one way to get that long bus ride out of the way early.
– Fans have to wait an extended period for the home opener as it doesn’t occur until Oct. 10 when Everett hosts Spokane. Indeed, it’s a slow start to the season as a whole as the Tips have just six games in the season’s first four weeks.
– Everett travels to play the Central Division this season, and the Tips are breaking that up into two trips. The first part contains four games on Nov. 17-21, and the second part is another four gamer (including games at Kamloops on the way out and Tri-City on the way back) on Jan. 20-29.
– The Tips don’t see league champion Kelowna until the second half of the season, with the first meeting on Dec. 30 in Kelowna.
– Everett has three afternoon games this season. The Tips host 2:05 p.m. starts on New Year’s Day (Kelowna) and Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Saskatoon on Jan. 18). Everett also has a road 2 p.m. start on Feb. 8 at Victoria for Family Day in Canada.
– The season gets busy during the second half. The Tips play just 32 games prior to the Christmas break and 40 after. The Christmas break this year is seven days from Dec. 20-26.
– Everett has six three-in-threes this season, all during the second half. That includes three consecutive weekends in February.
– Once again, the Tips have that difficult home-and-home with Victoria on the season’s final weekend. This time it concludes the season as Everett doesn’t play on the Sunday of the final weekend. The home finale is March 18, with the season ending the following night on the island.
– This season Tri-City is the U.S. Division foe the Tips play just eight times, compared to 10 times against the other three. As always, those spare two games are against Vancouver as Everett faces the Giants six times vs. four against all the other B.C. Division teams.
