TULALIP — A man’s body was found down an embankment on the Tulalip Indian Reservation after a brush fire on Thursday afternoon.
The man, 85, is believed to have died during the fire, but an investigation is underway, said Shari Ireton, spokeswoman for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
“The death is not considered suspicious at this time,” she said.
Crews first were called about 12:20 p.m. for smoke seen in the area of Priest Point, Marysville Fire Marshal Tom Maloney said. They were told moments later that someone had fallen over the 30-foot embankment.
The body was found down the embankment near the 4000 block of Meridian Avenue N.
The county Fire Marshal’s office also was asked to determine the cause of the fire.
The fire was about 40 feet by 40 feet in size, Maloney said. It was promptly extinguished.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death.
