MEDFORD, Ore. — A southern Oregon fire official says a visitor has died after he backed up too far while taking a photo at a scenic viewpoint and fell more than 75 feet.
The Medford Mail Tribune reported that Jackson County Fire District 3 spokeswoman Ashley Lara said the man fell Thursday from a viewpoint near the Mill Creek Falls Scenic Area outside Prospect.
She says four people were hiking by the viewpoint when the husband of one visitor tried to take a photo.
The body has been recovered. The man was not immediately identified.
