TACOMA — A 31-year-old Roy man has been sentenced to 16 years in a traffic crash that killed one man and injured three other people.
The News Tribune reported that Matthew Haygood previously pleaded guilty to one count of vehicular homicide and three counts of vehicular assault in the March 7 collision near Spanaway that killed Todd Morose of Frederickson and injured Morose’s wife and two daughters.
Haygood was sentenced Friday.
Court papers say lab tests showed Haygood’s blood-alcohol content at 0.16, twice the legal limit, nearly four hours after the wreck. Prosecutors wrote there also was evidence he’d used marijuana before the crash.
Haygood apologized to the Morose family in a letter to the court.
