AquaSox erupt in late innings to beat Devils 8-3

PASCO — The Everett AquaSox erupted in the late going on Thursday night, scoring eight unanswered runs from the sixth inning forward to beat the Tri-City Dust Devils 8-3 and avoid losing back-to-back games for the first time all season.

After falling behind 3-0 after four innings, it was all AquaSox from that point on.

A four-run sixth inning started the outburst for Everett (11-4), and began when Drew Jackson beat out a bunt single down the third-base line. Luis Liberato followed with a single of his own to chase Tri-City reliever Luis Hernandez (0-3) from the game.

Yojhan Quevedo greeted Elvin Liriano with an RBI single to left that scored Jackson for Everett’s first run of the night. After a walk to Alex Jackson put runners on first and second, Logan Taylor singled to the left side to plate Liberato to make it a 3-2 game.

First baseman Ryan Uhl put the Sox ahead to stay with a two-run single to left field to score Quevedo and Alex Jackson to give Everett a 4-3 lead.

The AquaSox bullpen took charge from there, as Anthony Misiewicz, Joe Pistorese and Lance Thonvold combined for five scoreless innings to finish off the Dust Devils (7-8).

Misiewicz (1-0) earned the victory with three innings of two-hit relief. He allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out one.

Pistorese worked 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief with three strikeouts and Thonvold finished up for his second save.

Everett added single runs in the seventh and eighth on a sacrifice fly by Quevedo and an RBI single by Bishop.

Uhl went 2-for-3 with four RBI and Quevedo went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI for the Sox. Liberato, Braden Bishop, Drew Jackson and Quevedo each had multiple-hit days.
