BOISE — The Everett AquaSox took a 3-1 series lead in a five-game Northwest League series against the Boise Hawks with a 3-2 win Sunday night at Memorial Stadium.
The win maintains first-place Everett’s three-game lead in the North Division.
Everett jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning thanks in part to triples by Braden Bishop and Alex Jackson. Bishop led off the inning with a triple and scored on Jordan Cowan’s ground out to second base. Ryan Uhl singled and scored on Jackson’s triple.
Boise scored in the second inning but Everett bounced back in the third, taking a 3-1 lead when Cowan scored on an RBI single by Uhl.
Boise scored in the fourth to cut the Sox’s lead to 3-2, but Everett relievers Joseph Pistorese and Joey Strain combined to pitch 42/3 scoreless innings the rest of the game. Strain, pitching in his first game for Everett, struck out two batters in two innings of relief to pick up the save.
AquaSox starter Andrew Moore pitched a perfect first with two strikeouts for Everett before an hour and twenty-minute rain delay halted the game. Moore was replaced by Taylor Byrd when the game resumed. Byrd allowed two earned runs on six hits in 31/3 innings.
