Work on Lakeview Trail in Mountlake Terrace is underway.
The 1-mile bicycle and pedestrian path will provide an east-west link across the city, connecting the Interurban Trail at 228th Street SW with the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center and Freeway Station via Lakeview Drive.
The contractor has been grading for the trail, installing retaining walls and new curb and gutter, and preparing for installation of new street lights, traffic engineer Janet Hall reports. Asphalt placement is scheduled to begin later in July. The project should be completed this fall.
“It is exciting to watch the progress, but there are traffic delays during the day and using alternate routes is advised,” Hall added.
The nearly $3.4 million contract was awarded to Taylor’s Excavators in March. Grants are paying for the bulk of the project.
