BELLINGHAM — A young woman who caused a crash that killed a Bellingham toddler in 2010 has been jailed again on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The Bellingham Herald reported 20-year-old Carli Alvarado was arrested July 3 after being pulled over by a state trooper. According to a report, her blood-alcohol content had been above the legal limit.
In September 2010, when Alvarado was 16, she crashed into the back of another vehicle, which jolted forward into a family that had been crossing the street. Two-year-old Anna Marie Brulotte was killed.
Alvarado was found guilty of vehicular homicide and was given a short sentence of 30 days, far less than the standard range of 15 to 36 weeks.
Alvarado’s next court hearing has been set for Aug. 24.
