New regulations for rainbow and brook trout on Ross Lake call for a one-rainbow limit, minimum size 16 inches; brook trout, five per day, no minimum size.
Biologists have determined that Ross Lake rainbows have not been recruiting well and have been growing faster. The rapid growth means that the old 13-inch minimum size limit no longer protects first-time spawners.
Brook trout are a non-native species and harvest is encouraged.
