I gratefully thank Officer Nathan Lerma of the Mill Creek Police Department. He coordinated a search for my husband who suffers from dementia and wandered away from home.
Officer Lerma explained what was being done to try and locate my husband. It helped to put me at ease knowing that he would be found safe.
I was frantic; it was starting to get dark and he had taken our dog with him. My husband cannot communicate clearly, and would have kept on walking and not stopped for help. He crossed Highway 527 and 164th Street, which is extremely busy. He does not understand the traffic signals. How he made it across is frightening to imagine. He was fortunately found safe and sound. I felt great relief when I saw my husband standing next to Officer Lerma.
Officer Lerma also helped in getting information on “Project Life Saver,” an organization which helps locate, find and search for missing persons.
I would also like to thank all law enforcement officers and Mill Creek Health and Wellness Community for their help.
