Kids take over farmers market
The Snohomish Farmers Market is hosting kids vendor day from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Young entrepreneurs are invited to sell their items, such as planters, honey and soaps. The market is located at the corner of Pearl Street and Cedar Avenue.

Meet Lynnwood’s sister city: The city of Lynnwood plans a sister city reception at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at City Hall, 19100 44th Ave. W. The mayor from Lynnwood’s sister city, Boeun, South Korea, will be present and available for photos. The event is expected to end by 12:30 p.m.
The Lynnwood City Council will be on summer recess after the Aug. 10 meeting and will return Sept. 8.
Marysville may soon have new chief: The Marysville Fire District has made an offer to hire interim Fire Chief Martin McFalls as the permanent chief. Contract negotiations are ongoing. After those are completed, the board will take a final vote. McFalls has been interim chief since April. Eight finalists were interviewed for the job, which oversees fire protection and emergency medical service for about 78,000 people living in Marysville and surrounding areas.
