Camano Library grand opening
The Camano Island Library is opening Saturday with a ceremony at 9:30 a.m. at 848 N. Sunrise Blvd. The new library, in the former Islander’s Restaurant building at Terry’s Corner, replaces an interim library that was located a few doors down. The space is larger and the collection of books, computers and furniture also has expanded. There’s a children’s room, reading room and a multi-purpose room. The library will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The library will be closed Sundays.
Run with your pet dogs at Mutt Strut: A 5K-9 Fun Run at Langus Riverfront Park, 400 Smith Island Road, Aug. 8 is open to people and their dogs. The event, which starts at 9 a.m. is followed by the Mutt Strut, a pet promenade along the Riverfront Trail, and a series of other pet-focused events.
Residents of Snohomish County can get their dog (or cat) microchipped and have their pooch take the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizenship Test.
Registration for the run starts at 8:30 a.m. and costs $10. Dogs must wear non-retractable leashes and behave well. Prizes will be awarded in several categories.
