Weekend best bets: fair, music and beer, arts festivals, more

Bands and brews: On Saturday, head down to the Everett waterfront to hear live music, drink beer and sample food truck offerings. Rock the Boat is a new festival and it’s bringing some great music to town. Read our story.

Even more fun for kids: The Stanwood-Camano Community Fair runs through Sunday in Stanwood. This year, the fair has expanded its fun offerings for kids to make it even more family-friendly. Get the details in our story and check out what bands are playing.

Fast things: It’s Seafair Weekend. Check out the hydroplane races, air show and lots more. Most of the action is at Genesee Park at Lake Washington.

Nature: Watch flocks of birds in flight. Learn about the Stillaguamish River estuary. Eat some ice cream. The Nature Conservancy is hosting a free family event from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at its Port Susan Bay Preserve south of Stanwood. Get the details in our story.

Live theater: Phoenix Theater, 9673 Firdale Ave. N., Edmonds, offers its first 24-hour theater festival. Four writers, four directors and 17 actors will write, direct and perform four short plays in 24 hours. It culminates with performances at 8 p.m. Saturday. Pay what you can at the door, but reserve a seat at www.phoenixtheatreedmonds.org/shows.

Arty: Check out beautiful works of art in a beautiful location. The Mukilteo Waterfront Arts Festival is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Rosehill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Ave. There will be art booths and food. Free admission with free parking available. Read more in our story.

More art, more scenery: The Index Arts Festival is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, 503 Ave. A, Index. There will be outdoor painting, live music, fun for kids, crafts and more. Free admission and parking. Read more in our story.

Visit the farm: Oxbow Farm, 10819 Carnation Duvall Road, offers a free day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Visit to see the kids’ farm, children’s garden and living playground.

Shiny: The Granite Falls’ Show N’ Shine is 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday on Granite Avenue. There will be more than 100 cars, trucks and motorcycles; food and craft vendors; and inflatables for kids. Free.
