The eighth annual Mukilteo Art Festival and the 12th annual Index Arts Festival are both on Aug. 1, drawing art lovers to the water and the mountains.
Set against the backdrop of Mount Index along the North Fork Skykomish River, the Index Arts Festival starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at Doolittle Park, 503 Ave. A, just a half-mile off U.S. 2 in Index. Admission and parking are free.
Along with craft and artists’ booths, the festival offers live entertainment, children’s activities, poetry readings and food from local restaurants.
Bring a blanket for a picnic and your dancing shoes, or just relax in the sun while listening to the bands lined up to perform. Pets must be on a leash.
Also at the festival, people can book river rafting trips with Outdoor Andventures.
More information is at indexartsfestival.org.
In Mukilteo, the Arts Guild and the city welcome people to the festival, set for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the beautiful Rosehill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Ave., with its views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains.
Admission and parking are free.
Artists exhibiting at the festival come from throughout the region.
