Simmonds best choice, period

While The Herald’s endorsement for Loren Simmonds for Lynnwood City Council says, “There is little that separates the three candidates on the issues,” there is much that separates the candidates on experience, practicality, and wisdom. I want to encourage anyone who thinks there is no difference in the candidates’ stand on issues to take a little bit of time to get to know Loren Simmonds.

I can honestly say after listening to or attending nearly every Lynnwood City Council meeting over the past 10-plus years, Loren Simmonds is one person I would endorse wholeheartedly. He has weathered difficult times on the council with his dignity intact and displaying a strength of character rarely seen in our society, much less in politics. He is intelligent, reasonable and diplomatic. He appreciates and supports the diversity within our community. He understands the critical issues Lynnwood is faced with and has a grasp of how to balance legislative requirements with the city’s changing needs and voters’ desires. Loren Simmonds is exactly what he appears to be — honest, hard-working, and reliable.
