KEIZER, Ore. — It took the fourth game of a five-game series and it wasn’t always pretty but the AquaSox bested the pesky Salem-Keizer Volcanoes with an 11-7 win on Saturday night.
The series has seen a whopping 52 runs cross home plate with the AquaSox and Volcanoes combining for 21 in the first innings of the four games.
In the first inning Saturday the Frogs plated six runs on seven singles, and chased starter Logan Webb from the game after he faced recorded just two outs. Drew Jackson had two singles and two RBI in the frame.
Jackson led off the fourth with his second homer of the season off Nolan Riggs, Yojhan Quevedo drove in the Frogs’ eighth run of the night with a sacrifice fly following a triple by Erick Mejia.
In the sixth, Jackson was the catalyst again, leading off with a single and stealing second. Corey Simpson singled him home with two outs and Arturo Nieto doubled in Simpson for a two-spot and 10-2 Frogs lead. Mejia singled up the middle with the bases loaded in the seventh to score Taylor Zeutenhorst for Everett’s 11th run.
Everett starter Jose Santiago recorded the win through six innings on the mound. The right-hander allowed just two earned runs. Salem-Keizer’s three run rally in the ninth off Joey Strain fell short.
