“Show Me a Hero”: 9 p.m. Aug. 16, HBO, creator David Simon (“The Wire”) adapts a nonfiction book of the same name about race and community in Yonkers, N.Y.
“Startup U”: 8 p.m. Aug. 18, ABC Family, reality series about young entrepreneurs at a California college that teaches about starting companies.
“WAGS”: 10 p.m. Aug. 18, E!, reality docuseries that follows the Women and Girlfriends of sports professionals.
“Documentary Now!”: 10 p.m. Aug. 20, IFC, Fred Armisen (“Portlandia”) and Bill Hader (“Saturday Night Live”) star in a weekly spoof of documentaries.
“Blunt Talk”: 9 p.m. Aug. 22, Showtime, executive producer Seth MacFarlane (“Family Guy”) is behind this live-action comedy starring Patrick Stewart as a Brit who hosts an American cable news show. So, basically, it’s the unofficial “Piers Morgan Story.”
