SALEM — The Everett AquaSox stranded 10 baserunners in a 3-2 loss to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes in a Northwest League baseball game on Sunday.
Steven Duggar hit a two-out RBI double and Ronnie Jebavy followed with an RBI single as Salem-Keizer took a 2-0 lead in third inning.
The Volcanoes increased their lead to 3-0 in the fifth inning when Scott Price hit his first home run of the season.
The AquaSox cut Salem-Keizer’s lead to 3-1 in the top of the seventh on Conner Hale’s RBI single. An RBI-single by Everett’s Erick Mejia reduced the Volcanoes’ lead to 3-2 in the eighth inning, but the AquaSox left the bases loaded when P. J. Jones Jr. popped out to Salem-Keizer second baseman Richard Amion to end the inning.
In the top of the ninth the AquaSox loaded the bases with two out before Salem-Keizer’s Caleb Smith came in and earned the save by retiring Mejia on a fly ball to right field to end the game.
