VANCOUVER — Multiple small brush fires flared up in Clark County on Tuesday afternoon, but fire officials say they were all out.
The Columbian said grass and wildfires were reported in Brush Prairie, Vancouver and Camas. Only one structure, which is believed to be a shed, was destroyed. At least two homes were singed.
The largest Tuesday afternoon wildfire burned in heavy timber and brush along Salmon Creek. At one point flames were described as 40 feet high. But fire crews and a helicopter doused the flames after about 10 acres were burned.
Another fire blackened dry grass and destroyed a shed in Central Vancouver, just west of I-205.
Meanwhile, fires burning in the Columbia River Gorge Tuesday afternoon caused closures along Highway 14 and some brief evacuations, but no structures were damaged.
