Machinists raise $9,300 for Guide Dogs of America
Machinists Union District Lodge 751’s 13th annual Puppy Putt motorcycle event raised more than $9,300 for charity. The event, held July 11, attracted nearly 50 motorcycle riders. District 751 is the top fundraiser for Guide Dogs of America. Over the past six years, union volunteers have raised nearly $1.8 million for the charity.
Donate school supplies at Bartell Drugs
Bartell Drugs will collect donations of school supplies and hygiene products for its 12th annual School Tools for Kids in Need drive through Aug. 29 at all 64 Bartell Drugs locations. Donated items help re-stock World Vision’s Teacher Resource Center in Fife where local teachers can shop free of charge for supplies to assist qualifying students.
Aramark launders coats for Clothes For Kids
Aramark has laundered more than 750 gently-used coats for the Clothes For Kids School Wardrobe program. This has saved program resources and volunteer time, allowing the non-profit to focus on other needs. Clothes For Kids has also added a 24-hour drop box for donations of school clothing. More than 3,200 students in need will be served during the 2015/2016 school year.
Frost celebrates grand opening in Everett
Frost, at 2811-B Colby Ave. in downtown Everett, celebrated the one-month anniversary of its opening with an official grand opening celebration on July 29. The chain, which opened in 2009, began with doughnuts but now offers French macarons, cupcakes and hand tailored coffee beverages as well as the signature doughnuts.
