MARYSVILLE — At least two recent brush fires in Snohomish County remain under investigation. One, on the Index Town Wall, started July 28 and continued to burn Tuesday beyond the reach of ground crews.
Another brush fire started Monday afternoon in southeast Marysville and spread to several acres. No one was injured in either incident.
The Marysville fire was reported just after 3:30 p.m. Monday in a powerline corridor near 80th Avenue NE, battalion chief Jeff Cole said. Crews got it surrounded within about an hour.
Late Monday evening, command was transferred to the state Department of Natural Resources. The state crews expected to stay on scene throughout Tuesday evening, spokeswoman Janet Pearce said
Meanwhile, the state also continues to use helicopters to drop water on the Index fire, she said It remained at about an acre in size on Tuesday afternoon.
“It poses no threat to structures or people,” she said.
