On June 22 I attended an Everett City Council planning meeting for property owners in the Smith Avenue and 36th Street area. My neighbor across the street also attended. We went to this meeting to address issues of use with this area — mostly the people hanging out, walking up and down the street, and sleeping overnight.
I brought three sets of pictures with me, but the only person who really looked at them was council member Paul Roberts. The city employees running the meeting told my wife, myself, and my neighbor that the meeting was not being held to talk about the above-mentioned issue. Well, what other issues do they not want to talk about? This issue is also going along with this area.
The citizens of the city of Everett are getting short-changed by employees of the city with their short focus on all the problems that involve planning and rezoning, not just to set the rezone, but to please some people with a lot of clout.
When my wife, myself, and my neighbor walked out of the meeting, we were also told to not bring up the subject at that time. We saw then the short focus of city employees.
