Ever made it over to Walla Walla?
If not, maybe you should finally make the trip this weekend. Plenty of bands are heading that way. The city, 300 miles away from Everett, is hosting a rare music festival — the Gentlemen of the Road.
Put together by Mumford and Sons, the festival draws big names in music to small or out-of-the-way destinations, encouraging festival-goers to listen to lots of music, go camping and sample the culture of these smaller cities and towns. Only a few dates are planned every year.
Along with Mumford &Sons, the Walla Walla stop also will feature Foo Fighters, the Flaming Lips, Jenny Lewis, Tune-Yards and many more. The fun starts Aug. 14, with bands scheduled to play through Aug. 15.

Granted, if you can’t make it to Walla Walla, you can still hear some of the bands from that tour. Dawes and Blake Mills, both scheduled for the festival, are running over to Seattle afterward for a concert at the Showbox at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 16.
Dawes’ melodic take on roots rock has allowed the California band to carve out a loyal following since releasing its 2009 debut album, “North Hills.” The band is touring now behind its first No. 1 record, “All Your Favorite Bands,” which topped the Billboard folk charts this spring.
Blake Mills, meanwhile, got his start playing with members of Dawes but has since gone solo. His most recent album is “Heigh Ho.”

Seattle’s alt-rock station 107.7 The End is hosting its annual Summer Camp festival at Marymoor Park this weekend, with a long list of bands set to start playing at 1 p.m. Aug. 15.
The lineup for this festival usually features a handful of well-established groups and many more up-and-comers. The biggest name on the bill this year is Matt and Kim.
That duo’s high energy take on alt-pop has helped push its albums into the top 40 on a regular basis. Its most recent outing, the hip-hop flecked “New Glow,” reached No. 33 on the Billboard 200 earlier this year.
Other acts on the bill include Robert DeLong, Glass Animals, Chet Faker, Saint Motel and Joywave, among more.

R5 also is headed to Marymoor Park for a show at 7 p.m. Aug. 14.
The teen rock band got its start when the four Riker siblings teamed up with Elington Ratliff, a drummer, to make their quintet. With members also appearing on TV shows including “Glee” and “Austin and Ally,” the band quickly found a following among the tween Disney Radio audience.
Now the group is on tour behind “Sometime Last Night,” which reached No. 1 earlier this summer.

Finally, hip-hop trio Migos is heading to the Showbox SoDo at 9:30 p.m. Aug. 14 as it celebrates the release of its debut album, the much-anticipated “Yung Rich Nation.”
The group first came to fame in 2013, thanks to its buzzed about single “Versace,” with expectations quickly mounting for the group’s full-length disc.
Its new album mostly lived up to the hype. It was greeted with warm reviews upon its release in late July, and featured the single “One Time.”
