Early the morning of Aug. 8, a manufactured home in Cardinal Estates, a park for folks 55-plus in Lake Stevens, was gutted by fire. One courageous young man kicked in the back door and got the resident out before any fire or emergency units arrived.
When the units arrived they were organized, all personnel knew exactly what to do. We are so thankful they soaked the trees between two of the units, spread foam on the dry grass and fought the fire with efficiency while making sure everyone watching kept a proper distance. We had a planned park gathering the next day, and the professionalism of all of the departments involved was discussed at great length.
We appreciate all of the emergency personnel that responded. Special kudos to all of the Lake Stevens Fire Department, Marysville engine No. 66; city of Snohomish engine No. 43; Getchell engine No. 68; the Snohomish County Deputy Fire Marshall Gary Bontrager; an unknown number of police and ambulance units, along with anyone else that responded. Our apologies to anyone we missed.
Without the massive, quick response more of our residents could have lost their homes. Thanks again and God bless each and every one of you.
Gratefully,
Sharon (Sammie) Thurber &Ken Ward, managers
