The Washington State Department of Transportation has created a website with detailed closure information for the I-5 expansion joint replacement project between Everett and Marysville after receiving several questions from those who use the well-traveled highway.
The nearly year-long project will replace aging bridge expansion joints over the Steamboat, Union and Ebey sloughs.
Scheduling for the work took into account other projects in the area, including the Tulalip Tribes’ 116th Street NE overpass and Everett’s Broadway Bridge replacement.
It also took into account Boeing’s second-shift workers. Heading northbound, the first lane can close at 8 p.m., leaving two lanes open. The second lane won’t close until midnight, after Boeing’s second shift lets out.
The lanes also will be open in time for the southbound morning commute. Two out of three lanes will open by 4 a.m. and all lanes by 5 a.m.
