EVERETT — Police in Mill Creek believe they have caught up with a package thief.
The suspect, 30, was arrested Friday and booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of trafficking in stolen property and theft after packages left at four Mill Creek homes were stolen in July.
The suspect also is under federal investigation for allegedly producing counterfeit $100 bills, according to a police report.
Police believe the suspect was driving a gold 2000 Ford Focus when he allegedly pilfered the packages. In one instance, a car matching that description was recorded on video outside of one of the victim’s homes. Police said the video shows a man walking up to the porch and taking the package.
The suspect allegedly was traced through an OfferUpnow.com account. He allegedly sold a stolen dirt scooter and also listed a stolen pressure cooker through that account.
Police gathered more evidence after the man was being evicted from a Mill Creek apartment complex.
At the time, employees were cleaning out his unit when they found cardboard boxes with the UPS and FedEx labels attached.
The labels matched the stolen package items from four Mill Creek homes, according to a probable cause statement.
Bail for the suspect is $25,000.
