Regarding the article, “Snohomish teacher suspended after probe finds misconduct”: Suspended? With pay? This is a punishment?
I am very shocked, not just that a teacher, who was in a position of trust and violated that trust, but also that the school district has decided this is not worthy of a loss of job.
I will not reiterate the information presented in the Everett Herald, except to note that this was not a first offense, and obviously was not something that was welcomed by the girl’s family. Even though there was no proof that there was any sexual intent, I ask you, what else could it be? The girl’s father asked him “repeatedly … to stop contacting his daughter.” There were over 1,500 text messages, inappropriately late at night. And he ignored the father?
I understand that in this day and age, school districts need irrefutable proof to fire a teacher or a principal. However, in this case, I believe the district has a public who will want it to do the right thing and stand behind it if the district does that. As the mother of two girls who graduated from SHS, I’m pretty sure most of the parents will support the decision.
Please do the right thing and get this man away from our high school girls.
