So the Supreme Court is now fining the state (also known as the taxpayers) for the Legislature’s failure to fully fund our educational system. Why not fine the people responsible — $100,000 a day divided equally among our failed legislators would more likely stimulate some desire to do the job they’ve failed to do for many years.
A different point, but along a similar line is how the schools spend the money they have. Priorities seem to be improperly applied. First should be basic education. Plain and simple. Not a dime for sports, music, art, until English, math, history, social studies, etc., have all the money they need. The average graduate doesn’t seem to know how to fill out a job application, write a report, make change, or communicate clearly. Back to basics, people.
