Brier Councilman Dale Kaemingk faces challenger David Wines in the Nov. 3 general election.
The two are running for a four-year term. Two other four-year positions and a two-year “at-large” position on the seven-member council also are on the November ballot.
Wines and Kaemingk recently sent statements introducing themselves to voters. Here are their statements, in the order that the candidates’ names will appear on the ballot and in the voters’ pamphlet:
Brier City Council Position #5 (four-year term)
David Wines: Hi! My name Is David Wines and I tossed my hat in the ring for this November’s Brier City Council position #5. I have lived in Brier since 2000. I attended Ballard High School 1967-70, then spent 1970-72 in the U.S. Army, of which 22 months were spent in the RVN. After that I attended Shoreline CC. I am a retired U.S. Postal Service letter carrier with 27 years of service. Now I enjoy working in my garden, feeding my birds, taking our Jack terrier for long walks, and playing as much golf as I feel like with the most enjoyable round being on the weekend with friends I’ve known for 47 years.
Dale Kaemingk: It has been my pleasure to have served on the Brier City Council for 12 years. I served as mayor pro-tem and liaison to public works and the planning commission. I have traveled to Olympia to meet with our representatives on behalf of Brier.
I have been married to Terry for 35 years, and we have three grown children who are thriving. I am a managing partner of a structural engineering firm that does business in 45 states and six countries. My experience as an engineer and business owner helps me contribute practical solutions. I volunteer at a local school and serve as the treasurer for Sound City Bible Church.
Our city is exceptional, and I will strive to keep it that way. We are on a strong financial footing, and our streets and parks are in great condition. I have worked to give the employees of the city the tools they need to succeed. We have received millions of dollars in grants from other governmental partners. Public safety is crucial and I support local policing.
I love our large lots and support the expansion of our parks and trail system.
Over the years, I have worked hard response to the need of the residents of Brier. I have been endorsed by the mayor and entire Brier City Council.
