“Titanoboa: Monster Snake”: featuring a full-size replica of the giant snake, Aug. 22 through Nov. 15, Burke Museum, corner of NE 45th Street and 17th Avenue NE, UW Campus, Seattle. In a Colombian coal mine, scientists discovered the 60-million-year-old remains of Titanoboa cerrejonensis. Measuring 48 feet and weighing up to 2,500 pounds, this massive predator could devour a crocodile. “Titanoboa” delves into the discovery of this enormous reptile. The Burke is supplementing this traveling exhibit from the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service with a display about snakes from Washington state that are alive today.
