EVERETT — More details have emerged in an Everett-area home-invasion robbery that ended in north Seattle after a police chase on I-5.
A man was able to escape the home in the 8700 block of Gothic Way. He called 911 shortly after 2 p.m. and was able to give police a description of the suspects’ car.
Three men armed with handguns forced their way into the home and kept their faces covered, according to a Snohomish County sheriff’s office probable cause statement. Initial reports indicated that there were two suspects.
One of the suspects — a Shoreline man, 31 — was arrested and booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of robbery and burglary. The other two got away.
The man who was captured was bitten on the shoulder by a police dog. While getting medical treatment for his bite, the man allegedly said he wished police would have shot him.
“The suspects were not known nor were (they) recognizable to the victims,” sheriff’s office spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.
The suspects allegedly demanded money and marijuana during the break-in and stole two military-style rifles.
They allegedly reached speeds of 100 mph on I-5 while trying to get away in a 1997 Acura with its trunk open. The car blew a tire after running over a spike strip. It left I-5 at 145th Street NE, drove off the roadway about 30 yards and crashed through a fence at the northwest corner of the Jackson Golf Course.
The suspect vehicle was impounded for evidence.
