Tourism money
The city of Snohomish is accepting applications from nonprofit agencies for projects that help develop and promote tourism in the city. The money, about $10,000, comes from taxes on room rentals.
It will be available after Jan. 1, 2016, to reimburse groups for projects that will be completed by the end of that year.
Those applying for the money are expected to present their projects at the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee meeting set for 6 p.m. Sept. 24 at City Hall.
Applications are due to City Hall by 4 p.m. Sept. 18. Instructions and the application can be found on the city’s website at snohomishwa.gov/445/HotelMotel-Grant-Application.

Mukilteo one of the best: Money Magazine has named Mukilteo as one of its top 50 “Best Places to Live” for 2015. Mukilteo and Snoqualmie were the only two Washington communities included in the ranking. The magazine cited Mukilteo’s strong job market with an “eclectic mix of aerospace and tech companies” along with a high quality of life with good schools, community amenities like the waterfront and the Rosehill Community Center, and high quality housing options that are more affordable than other parts of the region.
