In response to the letter, “Writer should heed his own advice”: I do not care who Jim Tagart is or what experience he has. The bottom line is he referred to the Washington State Patrol as “AAA responders with a gun.” This is utterly disrespectful, whether it comes from a past officer, present officer, or common citizen. He should be ashamed! Every day that a police officer, sheriff or state patrol trooper show up for duty they run an equal risk of losing their life while performing their duties. One is not to be held in a higher esteem than the next! Furthermore, after doing a simple search on The Herald’s website you can easily find that Mr. Tagart has had 52 letters to the editor published over the years. The next thing you publish of his should be a big apology to all law enforcement.
