TRI-CITIES — A Kennewick driver who killed a man in a wrong-way crash on New Year’s Eve in Pasco has been sentenced to 7 1/2 years in prison.
The Tri-City Herald reported that Clifford Barker, 59, was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty earlier this month to vehicular homicide.
Washington State Patrol investigators say Baker had drove east in the westbound lanes of I-182 for more than a mile before his Ford truck collided with a Toyota Rav4 and a Honda Civic.
The Toyota driver, Martin Sanchez, was taken to a hospital, where he later died. His girlfriend and two daughters and the driver of the Honda escaped injury.
Baker had a blood-alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit the night of the crash.
Baker apologized to Sanchez’s family in court.
