Your guide to the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe

Thursday marks the start of 12 fun-filled days at the Evergreen State Fair. Here’s a sampling of the activities at Snohomish County’s largest event and the information needed to plan a trip to Monroe.

General admission ticket prices:

Adults, 16-61, $12

Senior citizens, 62-89, $8

90 and older, free

Youth, 6-15, $8

Children 5 and younger, free

Parking: $10 per entry

Grandstand, carnival, rodeo and speedway tickets are sold separately at the fair box office; advance grandstand and speedway tickets include fair admission. Tickets can also be purchased by calling 800-514-3849 or at evergreenfair.org

Fair hours: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on closing day.

Butler Amusements Carnival hours: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on closing day.

How to get there: The Evergreen State Fairgrounds is located at 14405 179th Ave. SE in Monroe, 14 miles east of Everett on U.S. 2 and about 30 miles northeast of Seattle via I-405 and Highway 522.

Community Transit: Routes 270 and 271 will serve the fair from Everett to Gold Bar. Busses are scheduled to run every 30 minutes during the weekday morning and evening peak, with hourly service in the middle of the day and at night.

Except for early morning trips, Routes 270 and 271 will serve a stop at the west gate of the fairgrounds. On weekday afternoons, commuter Routes 277 and 424 will also stop at the west gate.

Only Route 271 operates on Saturdays, Sundays and Labor Day. On Saturdays, the bus runs every hour. Service is every two hours on Sundays and Labor Day.

Park free at Everett Station, 3201 Smith Ave., and at the Snohomish, Sultan and Gold Bar park and ride lots.
